All of them open the same market with the same account, balance and orders. There is no primary address and the order is not a ranking. Copy one, paste it into Tor Browser, and check the address bar before you sign in.
01What Tor does and does not hide
It hides
- your IP address from the market, by routing through relays;
- the destination from your ISP and the network you are on;
- the fact that you are using Tor from anyone who only sees the exit traffic.
It does not hide
- anything you type. Your username, your password, your wallet addresses all reach the site;
- anything the site stores about you, once it has it;
- you from a fake address. Tor gets you to the onion; it cannot tell you the onion is the right one.
02Account habits
- A password you use nowhere else. If the market is breached, your other accounts should not be too.
- 2FA on. It turns a stolen password into a stolen password, which is a different and smaller problem.
- An email address that exists only for this. Do not reuse your daily inbox.
- Paste the address once, check it once, then browse. Do not keep pasting it during a session you are unsure about.
03Wallet habits
- Keep the market balance low. Fund it for what you are buying, not as a savings account.
- Withdraw regularly. The money in the market wallet is only as safe as the market is.
- Use fresh receiving addresses so your history does not all tie to one label.
04Browser habits
- Keep Tor Browser current. The updates are the point.
- Set a sensible security level in the shield menu before you log in.
- Do not download files from the market onto a machine you use for everything else.
- Close the circuit, or the whole browser, when you are done. Do not leave a logged-in tab running for days.
What this does not fix. A fake address, a reused password, and a big idle balance are not Tor problems. Tor protects the route. These habits protect what you put on it.
